Caber, Border Collie, CRN 040539
Caber was loved and owned by Craig and Shari Dawson and came from Rival Kennels in Ontario. He started playing flyball in March 2004 when he was just a year old and never looked back. He absolutely loved to play. Caber was handled by Craig, but would run for any handler, in any position, with any dog, consistently every time. He was about as solid as you could get on the flyball mats or off. These skills kept him in Division One for most of his career. His versatility meant he could go to tournaments without his owners, a high value quality as many of you know. Above all that, Caber made contributions to building the sport by training green handlers and helping with green dogs. His last tournament was probably one of the best ever. At 8 years old, he was showing no signs of slowing down. Sadly though, the day after his last tournament, Caber died very suddenly from a possible brain tumor. He was 600 pts from receiving his 40,000. I hope you will consider Caber for Region 10 MVP. I can’t think of a more fitting way to remember such a great flyball dog.
