Joe – Border Collie, CRN 020185
Flying Colors nominates Henry Pfiester’s ONYX border collie Joe as Region 6’s MVP, not just for the preceding racing year, but for the preceding racing decade. Joe is a big, almost smooth-coated border collie, with strong herding drive. He has run on Flying Colors for his entire flyball career – in every position and on every team, from the A team in his prime, to the multi-breed team, to the green dog teams, where a steady dog to help the new pups make their debut was what was required, to the vets team “Goofballs.” Joe was sidelined by injury for part of one racing year, so narrowly missed an Iron Dog Award. But if there ever was an iron dog, in terms of tireless effort out on the flyball lanes, no matter what was asked of him, it is Joe. For these reasons, we nominate Joe as Region 6 MVP!
