Ruckus – Mix, CRN 140776
Ruckus aka the gargoyle, did not take to flyball with ease. He struggled with aggression issues (against his own teammates) and no real love of the ball. He was a staffy mix, shelter rescue that was super shy. He was supposed to be our height dog and we worked hard to get him to the point of racing on a team. Once all the pieces fell into place with him, he became our most reliable height dog. He always had to start from the 5 foot line, so he wouldn’t eat his teammates. He also was threatened at the beginning of each heat with becoming gargoyle stew if he dropped his ball. We always joked that he avoided the crockpot one heat at a time. But, hard work paid off! He was quick and often legged out a taller dog for the win. He became the height dog for our A team and our multi breed team, brining home the Regional Champions title for that year. Now, at 11 1/2, he still runs, just not as much. He has let the youngsters have the glory as he enjoys his semi retirement. Moral of the story, take a chance on an underdog!
